Miriam F.

Winnipeg, MB
Nominated by Elaine Stern

Volunteered for:

Gwen Secter Creative Living Center

Length of Service:

35 hours per month for 1 year

February 11, 2014

Miriam attends the Holocaust Survivor luncheon at Gwen Secter, run by Jewish Child and Family.

Miriam was born in Germany and her family left for Shanghai during the German Occupation and after her father was released from prison. They lived in Shanghai for 12 years and came to Winnipeg via Europe.

Miriam lost her husband a few years ago. She has a son and a daughter and three grandsons.

Her commitment to to Gwen Secter is
undeniable. If we need her, she cancels whatever she had planned and comes to our rescue. Miriam helpful nature comes from the heart and people react to this in kind. If she doesn't know an answer, nothing stops her from solving the query.

Miriam's enthusiasm exudes energy making the environment fun and contagious. She also is a self starter and takes on a project with initiative,
always smiling and always has a joke or two. A volunteer like her is worth her weight in gold and she is definitely
an integral part of our family and team.

We are lucky to have her. She is a role model for the young and in her own cohort.
