George, along with his wife Evelyn, have become permanent volunteers at the Museum. Today, they run the museum with the help of a few volunteers. George is very interested in the historical aspect of the area and is always looking to add to the collection. In the last 5 years his biggest achievement was to start a collection of history books from the area. This has now expanded to all of Alberta. . The museum in Spirit River can boast of more than 125 history books. George enjoys giving back to the community and is adament that the history of the area be kept for the future.Evelyn is the one who keeps the paperwork up to date. She keeps the Museum in the news by writing articles in the paper on a monthly basis. Their service to the museum has impacted all of the area. Their knowledge of the artifacts, their passion to keep history alive, and their dermination to bring in the youth of our communities have really motivateed others to help. Both of these seniors have worked extra hard to keep the museum a place where we can meet for coffee, where weddings are being held, where groups will stop and visit. They love to meet people from all over and their warm smiles makes this a friendly place to visit. Both George and Evelyn volunteer at The Lion's Club bingo nights. They help with set up, with calling numbers, with making coffee and with clean up. They are truly a couple that enjoys doing things together for others. They support many other groups by attending their functions. They are always ready to give a hand when it is needed. When you mention their names at events, the first words everybody says" Oh, they are the Museum couple". This is really a testament to their dedication to keep the Museum alive.
