Clara Macleod is a prime example of a senior volunteer. She volunteers many hours a week ,not only in the different organizations in which she is involved ,but by doing many acts of kindness ,especially to seniors. She takes them to doctor's appointments, shopping and social events etc. Clara was for many years an administrator of a large nursing home . Through her involvement with seniors and their families, she became aware of the many needs of this segment of the population. She is a very outgoing person and enjoys meeting and helping people so therefore greatly enjoys helping people. Her service impacts many people ,especially in her volunteer work with the Meals on Wheels .This service is a vital part of many seniors' lives as many live alone . There are many accomplishments which could be attributed to this volunteer ,for example she initiated the program to have a defibulator placed in her church and promoted instructions as to its use. She has spoken at many senior homes re various health issues ,thus promoting preventative treatment etc. There are many stories which could be told to illustrate the valuable service of this nominee, One in particular would be how she faithfully every week took an elderly [98yrs] lady to crib games at the legion and played with her as her partner. She visits at a nursing home weekly ,as well as volunteers collecting the community for various charities. It could be noted that she was the co-ordinator for collections for Alzheimers for the entire province. It is anticipated that favourable consideration be given to this senior as an outstanding senior volunteer on P.E.I.
