Prepare to be inspired and amazed, by Marilla Millar's ROCK-A-BY-BABYstory.

Marilla had her final foster baby leave her care two short weeks ago. At 83 years of age she shared she opened her heart and home to 139 babies since 1974. She and her late husband, Peter, almost always had the little ones, i.e. infants/preschoolers needing care.

Pause for a moment and reflect on the precious time you may have spent with your own infant child and cherish that. Although we realize how special this time was, we recall the endless diaper changes/rash, burping, feeding, sleepless nights and walking the floor. Today, small families, do this perhaps one, two or three years. Marilla has done so for forty years!!! 139 times!!!

To add to this life long commitment of caring, Marilla has volunteered for many organizations in her community. She volunteers for the Bideford-Conway United Church, UCW Women's Institute, and the Fire Mettes. She was the first President for the Tyne Valley Community School and volunteered with them for 30 years. She recently committed to reading to school aged children at the Lennox Island First Nation School.

When I caught up with Marilla, I learned she had been at Prince County Hospital rocking a new born for the past three days.

Imagine for a moment if everyone in the world had the compassion to care about others in the way that Marilla and her late husband Peter have. PAUSE....

Would there not be more peace on earth?
